Echeveria ‘Orange Monroe’ is a small succulent plant from the Crassulaceae family, belonging to the Echeveria genus. It is a hybrid of Echeveria ‘Carola’ and Echeveria laui. Its spoon-shaped, thick leaves are coated with white farina, and the leaf edges often display an orange-red hue, making it highly ornamental.
Plant Features
• Leaves: Spoon-shaped, thick, and coated with white farina. Leaf edges are usually orange-red, adding vibrant color. As older leaves fall off, the stem may elongate, forming a thick trunk-like base topped with rosettes.
• Flowers: Blooms from late spring to early summer. Flowers emerge from the leaf axils in a bell-shaped form with orange-red petals.
Growth Habits:
Orange Monroe thrives in cool, well-lit environments with plenty of sunlight. Its active growing seasons are spring and autumn. It enters dormancy during the high temperatures of summer and the low temperatures of winter. During dormancy, avoid watering the plant. If it becomes too dry, mist it lightly, ensure good ventilation, and provide some shade. Spraying a small amount of water on the soil surface once a week can help prevent root death.
In winter, gradually reduce watering to keep the soil dry, enhancing the plant’s cold resistance. The main propagation methods for Orange Monroe are leaf cuttings or stem cuttings through beheading.
1. We display real photos and videos of our plants, not renderings. Each variety includes reference images for size.
2. We sell bare-root plants, which do not include pots or soil.
3. To ensure survival during shipping, our plants undergo a preparation process, including water control, soil removal, root drying, root trimming, and cleaning, which takes 1-2 days. When you receive your plant, it may appear dehydrated, wrinkled, discolored, misshapen, or shrunken. These are normal conditions that will improve once planted.

Succulent Plant Care Instructions and Precautions
-
1. Light Requirements:
• Adequate Sunlight: Succulents prefer bright, indirect light. Most species require 8-10 hours of sunlight daily.
• Avoid Direct Sunburn: Provide shade during hot summer days to prevent leaf burn. -
2. Watering Methods:
• Moderate Watering: Water only when the soil is completely dry. Overwatering is the main cause of root rot.
• Proper Watering Technique: Use the “soak and dry” method—water thoroughly and let excess water drain from the bottom of the pot.
• Seasonal Adjustments: Increase watering frequency during the growing seasons (spring and autumn) and reduce it during dormancy (summer or winter, depending on the species). -
3. Soil and Pots:
• Well-Draining Soil: Use specialized succulent soil or mix sandy soil components like peat moss, perlite, and gritty soil to ensure good drainage.
• Pots with Drainage Holes: Choose pots with drainage holes. Terracotta pots are ideal due to their breathability, which helps with moisture evaporation. -
4. Temperature and Humidity:
• Optimal Temperature: The best growing temperature for succulents is between 15-25°C (60-77°F).
• Cold Protection: Most succulents are not frost-tolerant. Move them indoors if temperatures drop below 5°C (41°F).
• Low Humidity Environment: Succulents prefer dry environments, so avoid placing them in humid areas like bathrooms. -
5. Fertilization Management:
• Moderate Fertilization: Apply a diluted, balanced fertilizer once a month during the growing seasons (spring and autumn).
• Avoid Over-Fertilization: Excessive fertilization can cause leggy growth and root damage. Refrain from fertilizing during the dormant season. -
6. Pruning and Regular Maintenance:
• Remove Dead Leaves: Regularly remove dead or dried leaves to prevent pests and fungal infections.
• Trim Overgrown Stems: Prune overgrown stems to keep the plant compact and attractive. -
7. Pest and Disease Prevention:
• Watch for Pests: Common pests include mealybugs, aphids, and spider mites. Use insecticidal soap or neem oil spray for treatment.
• Prevent Root Rot: Avoid waterlogging by using breathable pots and well-draining soil to prevent fungal infections and root rot.
